Michael Battaglia is a fourth-generation home builder, born in Pasadena, California and grew up in the San Gabriel Valley. Beginning in 1985, Michael worked in the building industry, first as a framer, and eventually in management with his father's in-fill development company in the San Gabriel Valley. Between 1987 and 1991 Michael learned the homebuilding business at Joseph E. Battaglia Inc., from 1992 to 1998. Michael worked for Baum Construction in Sierra Madre, Alexander/Catania Development in Azusa, and Comstock Homes in Manhattan Beach. He enjoyed a twenty-year career, from 1998 to 2018 in senior leadership at Standard Pacific/CalAtlantic Homes/Lennar. During his distinguished career he was responsible for entitling over 1,500 homes in numerous in-fill locations throughout southern California.
Michael joined William Lyon Homes in April 2018, as a Senior Vice President of Forward Planning. Battaglia was responsible for several entitlement opportunities, managing the project management team and leading Novel Park to a successful opening. In March of 2019 he was promoted to Division Manager. The territory included Orange, San Diego, Los Angeles Counties. The division built, sold, and closed 500-600 homes per year with gross revenues in excess of five hundred million dollars. William Lyon Homes was acquired by Taylor Morrison in February 2020 where Michael Headed up the land acquisition and forward planning departments.
In August 2020 Michael joined Van Daele Homes as Vice President Operations managing northern and southern California project management teams while overseeing Customer Care and Construction. His acumen for process improvement and large public homebuilder experience benefited the Van Daele operations.
Michael joined The New Home Company in February 2022 as Southern California Division President. The division territory includes Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego Counties. The division owns Eastvale Square (f.k.a. Leal Ranch) 1,300 home MPC in Eastvale, CA. New Home Co Southern California is growing operations in the first time, first time move up and luxury markets in southern California. The southern California team also enjoys a relationship in Fee building operations in the Inland Empire.
Battaglia has served as the Chairman of the California Building Industry Association in 2018 (CBIA) and as Vice Chairman of the Governmental Affairs Committee. Since 2006 Michael has held numerous positions with the Building Industry Association of Southern California and its chapters including: President of the Building Industry Association of Southern California (BIASC) 2015 and 2016; Chaired the Political Action Committee for BIASC from 2013 through 2015 and President of the Los Angeles County East Chapter of BIASC in 2006. He currently sits on the executive committees of CBIA, BIASC and HomeAid Orange County
In 1990, Michael graduated from Cal Poly Pomona with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Finance, Real Estate and Law (FRL) with a concentration in Real Estate Brokerage and Development. Battaglia currently sits on the FRL Advisory Committee and Real Estate Research Council of Southern California.
Married to his wife Melody for 33 years, Michael is a proud father of three children, Daniel 28 (5th Gen Homebuilder with Taylor Morrison), Timothy 24 and Grace 22. They are twenty-two-year residents of Serrano Heights in Orange. The Battaglia’s enjoy Anaheim Ducks hockey, LA Dodger baseball, LA Chargers football, photography, off-roading, skiing, and house boating. Michael and his family participate in several charitable organizations including the Anaheim Ducks Foundation, Catholic Charities, Home Aid Orange County, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, The Chapman Fund, and Interval House.
